Is An Electric Vehicle Right For Me?

What are electric vehicles?
An EV, or LEV, is a shortened acronym for an electric vehicle. EVs are vehicles that are either partially or fully powered on electric power. Electric vehicles have low running costs as they have less moving parts for maintaining and also very environmentally friendly as they use little or no fossil fuels (petrol or diesel).

You may also come across the acronym PHEV which stands for Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle.

Are electric vehicles expensive to service?

No oil to change, no engine to manage, with fewer parts to wear down, electric cars are cost-efficient and easier to maintain than internal combustion engine vehicles.

Are electric vehicles becoming more popular?

As well as being incredibly cheap to run, electric vehicles are becoming more widely produced, resulting in a drop in price. Due to electric vehicles being available for a while, buying a second-hand electric vehicle is also becoming more affordable and popular.

The Government are still encouraging the public to make the switch to electric by offering a £1500 Grant Contribution to reduce the price of a new LEV, of which all our Vauxhall Range qualify for.

Which Vauxhall electric vehicles have the longest range?
At the moment Vauxahll are leading with Fully Electric Derivitives in both the popular Corsa and Mokka Models as well as both the Combo Life and Vivaro Life. We are expecting to have a Fully Electric Derivatives in all Model Ranges by the end of 2023.
Both the Corsa-e and Mokka-e are powered by a 50kWH Lithium-ion battery with the range listed as 222 Miles with the Corsa-e and 209 Miles with the Mokka-e.

Are electric vehicles tax exempt?
Road tax on electric cars Now that vehicle road tax is based on carbon dioxide emissions, pure electric cars are exempt from first year road tax meaning its free to tax them.

Are electric vehicles reliable?
Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles, electric cars are more reliable with the fact that they have fewer moving parts. This also means that against combustion engine vehicles a fully electric vehicle can have reduced maintenance costs of around 50%. Vauxhall Electric cars all come with a 8 Year Battery Warranty as standard for your peace of mind.

Can you charge electric vehicles at home?
Charging your Electric Vehicle is just like charging your mobile phone. Most Electric drivers will do the majority of the vehicles charging at home in the evening or overnight. You simply Plug your vehicle in and as soon as the vehicle reaches its full charge it will stop charging and using electricity. The fastest way to charge your electric car at home is with a level 2 charging station. It can be installed on the side of your house, in a garage or your private parking lot.
