Dashboard Privacy - Car Journey is Number One Place for Reflection
A car journey is the number one place for contemplation and reflection according to new research out today by Vauxhall Tigra.
The majority of Brits would rather take a spin in their cars to get a bit of peace and quiet, than chill out at home. Over 85% of us consider being in our car as the ultimate in alone time, preferring to go out for a solo drive when craving some privacy.
However, the car has more use than simply as a place for us to clear our heads and unwind. A further 20% of Brits consider a car journey as the safest place to share a secret; secure in the knowledge that no-one other than the cars passengers can hear.
Over 15% of Brits choose a car journey to have a heart to heart with a friend or partner, feeling that being in a car creates a more personal atmosphere, with an intimate two-seater such as the Tigra convertible being ideal. Alternatively, a car is where Brits go for the big confessional with loved ones, believing that people are less likely to ‘blow a gasket’ when driving.
Relationship expert Tracey Cox comments:
It doesn't surprise me at all that people feel safe in their cars to talk about personal issues. We tend to choose a car which reflects our personalities, so feel very much at home in them, which automatically makes us feel more confident. There's also less eye contact because one of you has to be looking at the road! If you're a shy person and feel intimidated looking at someone when you've got something important to say, what better time to confide than when you or they are driving? It's also where people have a chance to think through their day - you have precious pockets of time to yourself while cruising - for lots of people that's the only time they get alone.
